How do I know when someone opens my file?

Every slim.to link notifies you the moment it is opened. You can get that as an email, a push notification on the Mac app, or a webhook into your own systems — with the opener's location, device and referrer attached.
Can I really see which pages they read?

Yes, for PDFs and hosted pages. slim.to records time spent on each page, scroll depth and total read time, so you get a per-viewer timeline rather than a single click count. Word, PowerPoint, Excel and ZIP files open in their own app, so those links track opens and downloads rather than per-page reading.
What file types can I share, and how large?

PDF, Word, PowerPoint and Excel documents, PNG, JPG and GIF images, MP4 video, HTML and ZIP archives — up to 100MB per file. You can also shorten any URL, or publish a hosted page straight from the dashboard.
Do the people I send links to need an account?

No. Recipients just click the link. You can optionally require a password, ask for an email address before the file opens, or restrict access to specific approved addresses — but none of that requires them to sign up for slim.to.
Can I revoke or expire a link after I have sent it?

Yes. Any link can be deactivated instantly, set to expire on a date, or swapped to point at a new version of the file without changing the URL you already shared.
Can I use my own domain?

Yes, on the Pro and Team plans. Add your domain in the dashboard, point a CNAME at us, and your links serve from your own domain with TLS issued automatically, your logo and your brand colour on the viewer.
How is this different from a Dropbox or Google Drive link?

A Drive link tells you a file exists. A slim.to link tells you what happened to it — who opened it, when, from where, how far they read, and whether they came back. It also gives you expiry, revocation, access gates and your own branding on top.
Is there an API, or a way to use it from an AI assistant?

Both. slim.to has a documented REST API with personal API keys, plus a hosted MCP server, so Claude, ChatGPT and Gemini can create links, publish pages and report back on who opened them.
